She sparkled, she shined
she was honest, she was kind
A soul to envy, and love to spare
A heart of Gold, but she did not care.
She fell for a fool
Once, and once again
She looked to the mirror
Instead of within,
Hoping for beauty
instead of praying for strength
and her once heart of gold,
withered and shrank
Gone.
That old girl dissapeared
instead of turning to me,
she turned to a mirror.
More honest than I,
more beautiful than right
she had much more reason
to trust her own sight.
Beauty is fleeting
is something they say
from the mirror she will not leave
...but from me she's gone away.

Lord this time, i'll make it right
Here at the altar I lay my life.
How can I be sure?
I will not lose my follow-through between
the altar and the door.
